What if the most universal taboo became a laughing matter? “Menstruosité” takes the gamble of approaching menstruation with humor, frankness and generosity, transforming a subject too often ignored into a joyful and unifying celebration.

Led by the Collectif Drôle pour une fille, made up of Aurélie Fortin, Juliette Rolland-Apergis and Marianne Verville, this show mixing theatre, humour and music tackles the taboo of menstruation head-on, choosing laughter as a driving force for reflection.

In “Menstruosité”, the different phases of the menstrual cycle are illustrated by a succession of scenes where parody of teenage films from the 2000s, musicals, television quizzes and wrestling matches rub shoulders.

Camille Massicotte’s staging is distinguished by its precision and sensitivity. The different worlds follow one another with fluidity, carried by generous and energetic performers. This variety of paintings contributes to a lively and unifying proposal.

In 90 minutes, Menstruosities tackles the realities of the menstrual cycle, from cramps to bloating, from lethargy in the luteal phase to the rise of libido in the ovulatory phase. The show offers a journey through the different phases of the menstrual cycle.

The artistic proposal is supported by the designs of Mouchoir Delacrotte (costumes and props), Charles Laurier and Nat Descôteaux (lighting), as well as Charles Laurier and Sébastien Levesque (sound design).
